10 Maryland area pavilions and exhibits you can visit in 2020

Aug. 1-4, 2020

USS Zumwalt (CVN 76) anchored in Ballast Point Salt Shaker Waterpark

Arlington

From the looks of it, USS Zumwalt (CVN 76) wouldn’t need any fancy tech to make its own water and electricity. Inside a customized pavilion, visitors will be able to watch the laser-guided aircraft carrier’s cutting-edge power system powering down for the day. The pavilion, one of 20 at the Yorktown 2020 exposition, will feature full operating functionality, complete with on-site bathrooms, and will be able to store 665,000 gallons of water, with an electric motor and generator to operate the water system. Aquafest will also feature a number of pavilions that support the running of civilian businesses, including a fish tackle booth.

At the Yorktown Expo Quarters, visitors can check out artist Bob Dwayne’s art installation “Inspiration for Freedom.” The interactive installation uses directional sound to communicate artwork with visitors around the pavilion’s walls. Visitors can also check out the pavilion’s more active area, which will feature an outdoor arcade.
